daajis.com:- Hong Kong authorities will kill more than 2,000 hamsters and ban the import of the small animals after pet shop workers, buyers and at least 11 hamsters tested positive for the Delta variant of Covid-19.
Initial test results showed that the customer's husband had also contracted the corona virus. Further testing later found 11 infected hamsters in the shop and a positive sample from the cage in the company's warehouse.
In response, health officials said they had found no precedent of pet hamsters transmitting the coronavirus to humans, but they said hamsters were infected in the laboratory.
